Humanitarian Aid Project - Teeny Tears Diapers

Activity Coordinator:  Jessie Kilger

Come participate in our Humanitarian Service project. We will be making tiny flannel bereavement diapers for two local hospitals (Valley Med and Good Sam) along with little blankets. These will be given to families that have suffered the loss of a preemie or micropreemie child through stillbirth or NICU loss.

Pattern for diapers found here: http://teenytears.blogspot.com/2011/10/diapers.html

And the blankets to go with them are 18" for the larger diaper, 12" for the smaller.  We're trying to make 100 sets (so 2 diapers and a blanket per set).

If you would like to donate fabric, we'll gladly accept any reverent (not bold, bright or flashy) printed flannel fabric. We do currently have a good supply already.

In September, we will be making up little boxes for the parents to be able to take home one diaper and blanket as a keepsake.

Key Fob Wristlet {sewing}

Activity Coordinator:  Sara Seipert

This keychain wristlet has been a lifesaver when I am the chaffeur of the house everyday for school... in and out of the car and stores or sporting events. I just put my keys over my wrist and then I know where they are for the next trip. They don't get lost in my purse or set down somewhere. I don't have to search for them as often!

Bring -  all materials provided. If you have a favorite scrap of fabric or ribbon and coordinating thread, bring it.

Cost - $2.50
Time - 15 min

Cakestands {upcycled}

Come turn your trash to treasure! All you need is an old candlestick, saucer or votive and an old plate....

and you can turn it into a fun little cake stand. Use them for cupcakes, cookies or other treats. A super easy and thrifty option to add to your party and entertaining decor!

Activity Coordinator:  Andrea Auduong

Bring: your own used/old candle sticks, plates, saucers, and tea cups an upcycle them to a cake stand!
For a brighter option, there will be an assortment of spray paints to choose from.
Cost: 0.25 for each cake stand you make
$1.50 if you would like it spray painted.
If spray painting, we will also coat with a polyurethane finish to increase durability and food safety. Though polyurethane is food safe after proper dry time, we will still always recommend using some type of barrier between your treats and the base (doily, small piece of wax paper, etc).
